The Night Before The Really Big Day....

                                      Stare at that ceiling.

Sweaty palms, white knuckles, deep breaths in bed.

Maybe the ring’s stowed away and the reservations are made. Maybe the results are coming in and everyone’s coming over. Maybe you’re buttoning down for a new job or following your heart and leaving an old one.

As the moonlight shines in your window excitement bubbles in your brain.

It’s almost here.

Eating the First Freshly Baked Cookie From the Oven Even Though it’s Way Too Hot....

It burns.

Chocolate chips drip down your fingertips as that softly-crumbling cookie melts into a hot puddle of steamy goodness in the middle of your mouth. Gasp for air, pop your eyes, and suck in some cool breaths as you try to chew without touching that red-hot cookie lava.

Part of what makes these cookies delicious is that you can’t buy them at the store. Nope, stacks of paper-wrapped packs got nothing on the hot crumbly oozing across the burning pan. Remember, you sweated up a storm in the kitchen for these cracking eggs, melting butter, and beating the wet floury mixture into a sticky brown pulp.

Now is not the time to wait.

Now is the time to enjoy it.

The first time You Get To Ride in The Front Seat Of The Car...

You waited a long time.

Cruising backwards in your baby seat, strapped into your toddler chair, sharing the bench with your little brother on those long drives downtown, you spent years putting up with child locks, bad views, and barf bags.

So when you finally get to ride in the front seat you deserve a big congratulations.

You just got promoted to adult.

Being Waited On Hand And Foot

Wake me up.

Take off my pyjamas. Put a shirt on me. Pull up my pants. Do up my zipper. Tie my shoes. Make me breakfast. Wash my hands. Put me in the car seat. Buckle me up. Blow my nose. Turn on the TV. Change the video. Change the video. Change the video. Take me to the store. Buy me a toy. Buy me lunch.
Hold me.

Give me a sucker. Stick it in my mouth. Pick it up off the floor. Clean off the dirt. Play with me. Make me laugh. Cook me supper. Put me in my chair. Cut up my food. Put it on my fork. Stick it in my mouth. Wipe it off my chin. Carry me upstairs. Sing me a song.

Bath me.

Finding Out Someone Has The Same Birthday As You...

Finding out someone shares a birthday with you feels like stars aligning, hearts criss-crossing, and lives twisting and tangling together.

If they share your actual year it’s even more special because you grew up sharing moments, memories and histories and horoscopes, too. Libra to Libra, Pisces to Pisces, you break it down around town chatting about childhood birthday parties, deliciously disgusting foods, and hometown habits that died hard.

Suddenly it’s a reminder it’s not just about you because someone else is partying hard on your party day.

Suddenly it feels like you’re sharing a secret.

Suddenly it feels like a friend.

When The Baby Crying on your flight Finally Shuts Up...

Look, I love babies.

Sure, we laugh, high five, sing songs, and play cars. We talk, read books, dream dreams, and stare at stars.
But one thing we agree to disagree on is proper behavior on overnight flights. Me, I like sleeping. Them, they like screaming for hours on the lap beside me.

Generally when this happens all I can do is focus all my energy on sending silent signals to their brain and hoping my message finally gets through.

Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up.

Scarred 4 Life

Well not for life but I will have a scar for sometime......wait, let me start from the beginning. Today I had a operation of something thingy on my face so that means I didn't go to school. This "thingy' was on my face since I was born but thankfully now it's gone. "This is the only painful part Aashay" said the doctor. "well ok". Now I didn't go to sleep but the part where they operated on was numb by anesthetic which is...I don't know. Anyway, there I was lying on the bed they call, the "operation bed", happily talking to the doctor and my dad while half of my face is numb. The surgery had started and finished in no time and I was up and running the next minute except I had 7 stitches and a bandage on my face but that fine. To all those people who a scared to have an operation, to be honest it doesn't hurt.

Indians... Aren't they So Indianish...

Don't you think Indians are so Indianish? I don't cos I am an Indian. Anyway this post is going to tell you alittle about the history of India although I was born in Fiji.

India is a land of ancient civilization, with cities and villages, cultivated fields, and great works of art dating back 4,000 years. India's high population density and variety of social, economic, and cultural configurations are the products of a long process of regional expansion.

India's official national sport is field hockey, administered by Hockey India. India's hockey team won the 1975 Hockey World Cup and 8 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the Olympic games, making it one of the world's most successful national hockey teams ever. Cricket, however, is by far the most popular sport.

Indian religions form one of the most defining aspects of Indian culture. Major dhármic religions which were founded in India include Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

That is only some of the history of India. Although I have never been to India I still am an Fijian Indian which is an Idian born in Fiji so there is some of the history of India.

"Tiki Tiki Slim Shady"...

Recently I have been saying "Tiki Tiki slim shady" everywhere. Here is the reason. For my uncle's birthday we had hired a karaoke machine. A karaoke machine is sort of like singstar. So back to the topic. There was this song called "my name is" and it was from the eighty's. It was a rap song and I just loved it. Here is how it went. "My name is, who my name is, huh my name is, tiki tiki slim shady". So that where I got the tiki tiki slim shady part from. It was so good we named one of our characters of the book that Shari, Atarah, Bridget, Hannah, Michael and I were making but sadly it didn't get finished due to technical problems.... kiddin'. Anyway that's how I got that tiki tiki slim shady from. Please don't steel that tiki tiki slim shady thing Room 17 especially you Michael!

Ummmmmmmmm

ummm... ummm... ummmm! What is wrong with the people say umm when they think?
Don't you find that annoying, umm umm umm How about this! I'm very sure that talking when thinking drives you away from ur ideas? Heres ur reason! Annoying people just keep going what do you think? what do you think. So they force people to give ideas and suddenly you go UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! (STOP IT!)

Great, I just ummed away from the main point of this: Why do people go umm? What do you think? Oh What do I think? I think people go umm because yeah exactly what i said before, they get forced to talk and... they copy other poeple that say umm and then it becomes a habit! AHA! I discovered something, call the ermm, call the whatever you call when you discover something! There has to to be something in your brain that makes you go ummmmm but well, I don't know. I bet all you guys say ummm and people say stop that but you still do it. This can be fun sometimes but mostly it is annoying so everyone who says ummmmmm STOP IT!

Hopefully this has taught you not to say umm anymore, has it? UMMMMMM, oh D'oh! TikiTiki Slim Out!
*(with special thanks to Michael who also participated)

Sickness, A Pain In Life.....

Weird Title right. Well forgot about the title and listen to the most evil master mind in the worlds blog post.... just kidding..... well not the listen to the blog post part. Anyway back to the topic. Unfortunately I am sick.... not the sick like the gross sick but the other one. So this sickness has been in me for about a week and it is really getting up my nerve. Why is it getting up my nerve, well because I don't get to go play outside unless I wear like 4 layers of clothes and I can't do things that involves something cold. Also I constantly need to drink Dimatap or whatever it's called and this thing were you spray at the bottom of your tongue and keep it there for 30 seconds then you get to swallow it. You would never want to have that spray because it taste like rotten paint. But at least I know my parents care about me and want me to get better. So here's a tip, never get sick........... wait, you can't stop yourself from getting sick. Just try not to get sick because trust me, it a pain in life. Tiki tiki slim out!

My Mum That Always Wants Me To....... The Revealing

As you probably know on my last blog I wrote about my mum that always wants me to... now I'm going to reveal it. Now I'm not trying to upset her but she always wants me to write about her. It's not that I don't want to write about her but it is that I don't really know what to write about her. She gives me ideas like how awesome she is and all that but that is just not enough. If I wrote about how awesome she was it would go something like this. "My mum is so awesome. She is so awesome that she is so awesome". BOR... oh, so not interesting. Any way back to the topic. She begs and begs and if I don't she gets all upset. So now you know if your mum tells you to write about her you should immediately go and write about her. Now that's the revealing of what my mum always want me to do.

Frog!

Today (Saturday 16th October 2010) we just found a frog in our garden, well actually my uncles garden. It is a Green Bell Frog and it is an introduced species, that means it is not native to New Zealand but has been brought in. In this case from Australia. I never had seen a frog in New Zealand but now I have. When my grandad saw it he came and told us so we all went outside to see. He got a bucket and carefully collected it. Now I know why people say frogs are disgusting. Next we contained it and came inside to check what kind of species it was. It didn't look exactly the same as the one on the Internet but we e-mail MAF (Ministries of agri culture and fisheries) the pictures and they said it was a Green Bell Frog. They said to put the frog in a container, then put it in the fridge, next put it in the freezer and by then it will be dead so then we send it to them. Well didn't exactly want to do that so we are still keeping it in the bucket. They say a frogs can jump up to 2-3 metres high and long. I have no idea if it's dead or alive and I don't want to. So that's the story of a frog in a family garden which happens to be true.

The Gospal Concert!

On a Saturday night we went to some place in south Auckland to see a Gospel concert with Dr. Vijay Benidict!  You might be wondering who is Dr. Vijay Benidict. Well he is a very famous Christian singer but he used to be a bollywood singer. You might know that that I'm not Christian but we got invited because the rest of my family is so that's why. He was amazing but unfortunately when he was talking about Jesus I could not really hear because I was at the back. Dr. Vijay Benidict made big fame with one song called Disco Dancer but because how much he loved Jesus he sacrificed his career as a bollywood singer to sing for the lord.

We all really enjoyed the time there and I had finally gone to my first concert but not the way I really wanted it to be.
