An Empty Part In My Life

My Paternal Grandfather is the one person empty part in my life. He was born in the year 1929 but sadly died on the 19th June 1998. Unfortunately that was just 3 months after my mum and dad got married and before I was born. He died in his sleep.

He was a tall person but I can only assume that because I can only see his photo. He wore glasses that aren't like the ones you get today and he had grey hair with streaks of black. As I said before, I can only describe his appearance by the photo.

He was quite strict according to my dad and when they used to have dinner together, they couldn't leave the table until their plate was empty. My Aaja (What I call him) was a very humble person. He would not speak with a high tone and was very much liked by people in the community. He had a BIG farm (over 10 acres) where he planted sugar cane, rice and he had Goats, Horses, Chickens, Ducks and Cows. My dad has experienced the farm lifestyle but my mum and I haven't. To fulfill her desire, my mum enjoys virtual farming (Farmville on Facebook).

I feel that a little part of my heart is missing and that part is My Aaja. I really miss him and just wish he was around to at least to see me.

I completely understand where you are coming from in this post Aashay. I have never met my paternal grandfather or grandmother - but I have seen photos. Have you seen a photo of him? My paternal grandmother was a stunner from the photo. I always wondered what they would have been like too.
You should see if you can scan a photo to add to your post.
I love your writing - descriptive and full of feeling
